The Solar Power team provides an off-grid solar power supply to Buddhafield spaces for sound, lighting and other purposes around the site both during the festival and for set up and tat down.
Before the festival, we provide power to charge radios and other uses, and set up street lighting at strategic points around the site.
During the festival we maintain the lighting, manage energy consumption of sound and lighting for stages that we are responsible for (especially important during times of poor weather), troubleshoot traders' electrical issues and Buddhafield equipment, and where possible help attendees with electrical issues arising. We also check the safety and compliance of traders and other electrical setups.
We are a team of about 6 people, and are looking for people ideally with off-grid electrical experience to join us. The main skill needed is competence and a willingness to learn. In addition we are looking for one fully qualified electrician for Compliance Safety testing of Traders and Buddhafield setups - this would be from about 12-18 July.
Timing
We need to arrive onsite early in the set up process and at the end of the festival ensure all equipment is taken down and stored away. So some of the team needs to be on site between 3-24th July to set up the solar and lighting systems, (and tat down). However there is flexibility across the team for arrival and departure dates. During the festival we will arrange a shift pattern to ensure work coverage and time off to enjoy the festival.
We will have daily check-ins for both personal and work sharing.
Please apply with your skills and dates you can offer.
Exchange
In exchange we offer:
- Three vegan meals a day for the whole time you are on site
- Hot drinks and snacks throughout the day during the setup and tat-down. Hot drinks throughout the event.
- Camping pitch and/or live-in parking
- A vehicle pass if needed
- An experience of living in a close-knit community on the land
- Opportunity to join daily meditation and Buddhist Dharma input
