“Know the ways of the ones who take care of you, so that you may take care of them. Sustain the ones who sustain you and the earth will last forever.”
Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants, 2013
This year, At Home With the Elements invites us to open our hearts, minds, arms and all our senses to the voices of the rain: the wisdom and the nourishment of the rest of the natural world. What insights from beyond ourselves might arrive? In what ways might we be guided to live in interconnection with our living home if we came to the elements without knowing, without agenda, without hurry, but with humility, openness and gratitude?
We’ll explore these themes and connect as a community, with daily meditation and Dharma talks every other day. Our opening ceremony will be at 7:30pm, Sunday, 11th February 2024 and meditations will begin the next morning. After that we’ll spend two days in each element…
The last two days are devoted to overview and bring it all together! Full programme will be confirmed soon - check back here to find out more about the theme and teacher for each element.
Our opening ceremony will be at 7:30pm, Sunday 11th Feb 2024.
After that we’ll spend two days in each element. Then all six elements for the final two days. The dates are as follows:
There’ll be a morning meditation beginning at 7:30am each day (Monday 12th - Sunday 25th).
On either the 1st or 2nd day of each element there will be an evening Dharma talk at 7.30pm (we’ll confirm which day ASAP).
The closing ritual will be on Sunday, 25th February in the evening
A full fortnight of events can seem overwhelming so we suggest that you choose the path that works for you. You’re invited to listen deeply to your needs and take what nourishes you from this event. There is no obligation to attend a certain number of sessions and you are welcome whenever you can make it. Here are a few suggested ways to engage...
Give me it all
Attend everything and soak up everything on offer.
Weekend Dharma warrior
Working during the week? Meditations are held at 7.30am so maybe you can sneak a little practice in before you go. And we’ll have recordings available so you can catch up on missed sessions at the weekend.
Pick an element, any element
You could pick your favourite element and commit to everything in those two days - each block is designed to be self-contained.
So tired of Zoom?
The support emails will be full of ways to be independent of Zoom – just read those. There can be magic in just knowing you’re on a journey with others.
We will be uploading videos so you can catch up and we’ll do our best to upload them really quickly after the original sessions, but we can’t guarantee the times they’ll be posted.
Sessions will be hosted on Zoom. Links and further details will be sent out on Thursday, 8th February 2024.
As we change from one element to the next, you’ll receive an email with thoughts, details and other offerings. Emails will be sent via Mailchimp.
If you book your place after 8th February you will receive the event details email from us as soon as possible but definitely by 8.30pm on the day that you book.
Please check your spam and other folders for the preparatory email on 8th February or after you book. Get in touch ASAP if you don’t have anything so we can make sure you are receiving the emails that will be sent during the event.
As well as a way to connect through the Dharma and other expressions of joy, this is a chance for you to support Buddhafield. We have two ticket options to suit different situations
If you prefer to and can commit to the whole fortnight, you can buy a ticket for the whole event at the tier that feels right for you financially - £75/ £100/ £125. You can still give more throughout the two weeks if you feel moved to and able.
If you want access but you’re not sure how much you’ll be able to attend, you can ‘donate as you go’. You pay a £45 deposit and then offer dana throughout the retreat. We ask that you donate between £2-£10 for each event you attend via our donation platform.
