The set-up crew for the showers & saunas is a small crew who set up and tat down the Showers and Sauna area at Green Earth Awakening Camp.
Typically, this involves:
- Building and tatting down the spa
- Running and maintaining the showers and sauna for the crew during the build & take down for the event
- Chopping wood
- Tending the fires
- Keeping the area clean and tidy
- And doing everything we can to ensure visitors to the spa enjoy a relaxed, nourishing and revitalising visit.
You are asked to do one six-hour shift per day during the set up and tat down, plus one shift during the event itself - plus attend a mid-morning meeting of about one hour in length, where we will talk about the work, life in and around the spa, the universe and anything else that comes to mind as well as receiving some Dharma (Buddhist philosophy) input from an order member with many years of experience in the Triratna Buddhist Community.
The role would suit someone outgoing, hard-working, with a positive mental attitude. Someone who is used to camping and everything that might invole in the English 'summer', and has some interest in, or is open to learning about, Buddhism, meditation, nature connection (especially fire) and communal living.
In return, we offer:
- Free entry to the Green Earth Awakening Camp
- 3 delicious vegan meals a day, cooked and served with love
- Hot drinks & snacks
- A camping/live-in pitch
- Workshops, discussions, talks, music, meditation, yoga and dance and the opportunity to be part of a right livelihood community, creating something meaningful and beautiful.
Key Dates
- Arrive on site: Tuesday, 2nd September
- Set up: Wednesday, 3rd September - Wednesday 10th September
- Event: Wednesday 10th - Sunday 14th September. You would only be expected to work one shift during the event itself,
- Tat Down: Monday 15th September - Saturday 20th September

If you volunteer, you need to be able to commit to staying and working throughout the set up & tat down and the one shift during the event.
There is an option to volunteer for both the setup and the event itself and give yourself the opportunity to immerse in the Buddhist community and land-based Buddhist practice for three weeks and be part of creating the camp back to an empty field, leaving nothing behind but footprints. You'll need to fill out an application for both the event form here and the set-up (this form) - please tick the box on your application below, that you have done so.
