Green Earth Awakening Showers & Saunas

**The information below applies to 2024 - check back soon for 2025 information and open applications.**

The Showers & Sauna Crew run the wood-fired sauna, showers and the relaxing and nourishing chill-out areas in the new Green Tara Spa at Green Earth Awakening Camp.

Providing hot showers and sauna to those working the build and tat down of the event as well as the event itself.

To do so we require two teams:

Set up crew are asked to do one six-hour shift per day during the set up and tat down, plus one shift during the event itself - plus attend a mid-morning meeting of about one hour in length, where we will talk about the work, life in and around the spa, the universe and anything else that comes to mind as well as receiving some Dharma (Buddhist philosophy) input from an order member with many years of experience in the Triratna Buddhist Community.

The set up and tat down - typically involves:

  • Building and tatting down the spa
  • Running and maintaining the showers and sauna for the crew during the build & take down for the event
  • Chopping wood
  • Tending the fires
  • Keeping the area clean and tidy
  • And doing everything we can to ensure visitors to the spa enjoy a relaxed, nourishing and revitalising visit.

Key Dates

  • Arrive on site: Tuesday 3rd September
  • Set up: Wednesday 4th September - Wednesday 11th September
  • Event: Wednesday 11th - Sunday 15th September. You would only be expected to work one shift during the event itself, so can largely please yourself during this time.
  • Tat Down: Monday 16th September - Saturday 21st September
  • Leave Site: Sunday 22nd September

If you volunteer, you need to commit to staying and working throughout the set up & tat down and the one shift during the event.

Event crew are asked to  one six-hour shift per day between 7am and 1am plus attend a mid-morning meeting of about one hour in length, where we will talk about the work, life in and around the spa, the universe and anything else that comes to mind as well as receiving some Dharma (Buddhist philosophy) input from, an order member with many years of experience in the Triratna Buddhist Community.

The event - typically involves:

  • Meet and greet at reception
  • Cleaning and maintaining the showers and saunas
  • Chopping wood
  • Tending the fires
  • Keeping the area clean and tidy
  • And doing everything we can to ensure visitors to the spa enjoy a relaxed, nourishing and revitalising visit.

Key Dates

  • Arrive on site: Monday 8th September
  • Event: Wednesday 11th - Sunday 15th September
  • Leave Site: Monday 16th September

There is an option to leave site Sunday 15th after your shift, but ideally crew would stay on site until the morning of Monday 16th when we'll have a check out and ritually close the space.

If you volunteer, you need to commit to staying the whole week.

The role would suit someone outgoing, hard working, with a positive mental attitude. Someone who is used to camping and everything that might involve in the English 'summer', and has some interest in, or is open to learning about, Buddhism, meditation, yoga and communal living.

In return, we offer:
  • Free entry to the Green Earth Awakening Camp
  • 3 Delicious vegan meals a day, cooked and served with love
  • Hot drinks & snacks
  • A camping/live-in pitch
  • Workshops, discussions, talks, music, meditation, yoga and dance and the opportunity to be part of a right livelihood community, creating something meaningful and beautiful.

There is an option to volunteer for both the setup and the event itself and still give yourselves the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Buddhist community and land based Buddhist practice for three weeks and be part of creating the camp back to an empty field, leaving nothing behind but footprints.
You'll need to fill out an application for both: the event and the set up - please indicate on your applications that you have done so.
