Green Earth Awakening Kitchen Crew - Set up and Tat Down

The Green Earth Awakening Kitchen crew feeds crew and those who buy meal passes.

We have 2 crews to achieve this.....

Setup & Take Down Crew + Event Crew Teams. This is an application to join the Setup & Take Down Crew.

Setup & Take Down Crew

During set up and tat down, the kitchen team feeds all crew onsite. You'll be part of a team of 20 that chops veg, washes pots, serves and cooks food. Jobs are rotated throughout. All the food is vegan, organic (where possible), and wheat-free (unless stated).

We have one team that solely cooks all the breakfasts.
And then two teams who rotate in cooking lunch and the evening meal.

All shifts include a space for check-in and check-out.

Shift times will be:

Breakfast Shift: 6am - 12noon
Lunch Shift: 9am - 3pm
Dinner Shift: 2pm - 8pm

Each shift will support the following shift by helping with veg prep for the next meal.

To volunteer, you need to be prepared to adhere to our guidelines.
As well as kitchen tasks, there is also space for Dharma study, meditation, ritual, fireside sitting and singing and games. Each day we will have a group check-in to start the morning. We grow and build a team over the days, through working and living together, contributing not just to the practical side of building an event, but to creating the Buddhafield community for everyone.

We ask that you come and be with us Sunday 31st August - Friday 19th September with your full camping kit or live-in vehicle, and bring your energy, generosity, skills, physical labour and your brightness.

Please plan to arrive in the afternoon of Sunday 31st August for kitchen induction at 4pm and also to set up your sleeping area and meet people as we will be working from Monday 1st.

As well as kitchen tasks you’ll be able to take advantage of all the festival has to offer, from yoga, to dance, to singing, to sitting around the fire, to listening to dharma talks and taking part in rituals.

By volunteering with Green Earth Awakening you’re becoming part of the community, and as well as contributing practically to the smooth running of the gathering, you’re also helping create the warm generous space that GEA is known for.

In return you will receive:

  • A Camp ticket
  • Camping pitch and/or live-in parking
  • A vehicle pass, if needed
  • The opportunity to be part of a positive, right livelihood, Buddhist-focused community
  • Three delicious vegan meals per day prepared, cooked and served with love
  • Hot drinks and snacks throughout the day during the setup and tat-down. Hot drinks throughout the event.
  • Meditation, yoga, Dharma discussions, dance, talks, fun & games, fires, stories, songs and community

If we get a large number of applications, we may close early, so please apply as soon as you can.

**Please ensure that you can make all of the dates and are committed to joining us for the event. Let us know ASAP if you are offered a place and can no longer attend. When people do  not turn up for the role they have been offered, it puts a huge strain on the team and affects everyone's experience so we appreciate your awareness of this. Please let your 'yes' mean 'yes, definitely, I will be there'. Thank you **
