The Charity

The legal structure of the central Buddhafield body is a private limited company that has charitable status, with various other entities created to run different aspects of the complex organisation that is Buddhafield.

The current activities and relationships between the various Buddhafield entities and their directors/trustees are detailed here.

The Charity

Triratna Buddhafield (the private limited company) (company number: 05157868) Registered 18th June 2004

A company limited by guarantee that can only return funds to the Charity - Triratna Buddhafield. 

Directors: Edward Tombs (Vimalaraja), Gabriela Pearse (Amaragita), Jack Lyus (Kamalanandi), Wayne Bedford (Danaraja), Virginia Ellis (Viryanaya), Dr. Utpaladhi Boak, Thomas Barnes (Muditajina), Sara Burns (Karunagita) 

This company has been granted exemption from the use of the suffix Ltd because its articles of association meet the requirements for exemption. These requirements are that the company must be a private company limited by guarantee and the articles of association must include clauses that:

• state that the objects of the company are the promotion or regulation of commerce, art, science, education, religion, charity or any profession.
• require its income to be applied in promoting its objects;
• prohibit the payment of dividends, or any return of capital, to its members; and
• require each member to contribute to the assets of the company if it is wound up during the time that s/he is a member or within 1 year of them ceasing to be a member.

The company Triratna Buddhafield has applied for and been granted charitable status by the Charity Commission of England and Wales and its charity registration number is 1108826. Registered 4th April 2005.

Note that Triratna Buddhafield was originally constituted as FWBO (Buddhafield).

Samaya Project Ltd. (company number: 03984058) Incorporated 2nd May, 2000. 

Public Limited Company where 100% of shares are owned by the charity Triratna Buddhafield. Profits and dividends are paid to the charity. The company trades as Buddhafield Events and runs the Buddhafield Festival and Green Earth Awakening Camp.

Buddhafield Trading Ltd. (company number: 03535723) Incorporated 26th March, 1998. 

Public Limited Company where 100% of shares are owned by the charity Triratna Buddhafield. Profits and dividends are paid to the charity. The company trades as Buddhafield Cafe.

Buddhafield Base Ltd (FCA Registered number: 8873) Registered 14th June, 2022.

A charitable community benefit society established to raise share capital and acquire property for a new project. Run by its members and a board composed of three directors appointed by the charity Triratna Buddhafield, a maximum of six directors elected from its membership and up to two advisory board members who do not need to be members.
