Festival Booking Terms and Conditions

Tickets are sold, and bookings made, on the understanding that you help maintain the conditions for a safe and harmonious event.

Our events are harmonious and we would like to keep them that way, so we ask that you read the following which aim to make it clear what we think is, and is not, harmonious behaviour, though this may also depend on our interpretation of the circumstances.

The law and our licensing authority set a whole range of conditions that we must follow. This includes that there is absolutely no alcohol or recreational drugs on site at any time. Whether or not you agree with fire safety, health & safety and infection control requirements, they are not negotiable. You must follow directions and instructions given to you by Stewards, Security, the Health & Safety Team or Event Area Co-ordinators. If you think you may find this difficult you may wish to reconsider booking tickets.

If you are unhappy about someone's behaviour, then you should ask to speak to the Duty Steward Manager. They will consult with the Head Steward and decide what to do. We think it reasonable to give people being challenged the opportunity to accommodate themselves better and rectify their bad behaviour as quickly as possibly.

We think that insisting that someone leave the event is a serious matter. We will have to feel confident that the party causing offence is wilfully careless about causing distress. However, we do reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone we consider poses a risk of harm to others, or to ask a person to leave the event should we consider they pose a risk of harm.

Since the event is organised by Buddhists, our criteria for gauging harmony are based on the five Buddhist precepts for lay people.

Treat everyone with courtesy, patience and respect

We ask you to treat everyone with courtesy, patience and respect under all circumstances. Most of our crew are volunteers - we ask that they be treated respect. We won't tolerate any verbal or physical violence towards them.

We expect that parents / caregivers bringing children to the Festival are responsible for them at all times they are on site, even if you choose to delegate the care of your child(ren) to another person or group at the Festival. We define a child as a person under 18 years of age. If a person under 18 is to attend the event alone, we ask that permission is given by their parent / caregiver via an In Loco Parentis Form and a named adult who will be on site as your child is nominated as responsible for the wellbeing and safety of your child for the duration of the event.

Be safety minded for your sake and the sake of the event community

Only open fires, braziers, and BBQs approved by Buddhafield are allowed. There are a small number of prepared communal fire pits onsite with firewood provided a safe distance away. Please don’t strip wood from the hedges or trees.
In tented areas and in Live-ins, we prefer that battery or solar charged lighting is used.
Any cooking by camping gas is outside the tent, away from any flammable materials and never change gas canisters in an enclosed space or near a naked flame.
Parents / caregivers are responsible for their child(ren) around all fires.
No paper sky Chinese lanterns, flares or fireworks of any type, please, regardless of whether you think they are biodegradable, marked “safe”, or to be tethered. They are an uncontrollable fire hazard when lit and the various remains ingested by animals / livestock badly hurt them.
Make sure cigarette butts are properly extinguished, disposed of safely and not left in the ground.
Abide by No Smoking and No Vaping signs.
For hygiene reasons, only authorised catering outlets are allowed to sell food or drinks at the event. This includes offering food items in exchange for goods or a donation. We strongly recommend that you avoid eating or drinking food stuffs from "fly pitches" for these reasons. We will stop any food being sold from "fly pitches” and ask that any such food is disposed of and in the place requested by us.
The event is vegetarian. All café / crew food is vegan. We ask you not to bring meat onto the site and if you have to, please do not give or sell any meat or unpackaged / open packaged dairy products to others for hygiene reasons.
The water provided is labelled for drinking or washing for hygiene purposes. Only use the taps for the purpose they are labelled for. Any other water on site is not suitable for drinking or washing in. This land may have had deer roaming on it and there is a risk of diseases associated with deer such as e-coli and zoonoses cryptosporidium.
Camp in the correct zone – no live-in vehicles are allowed in tented areas. Respect any no-go camping area signs, they are there for safety reasons..
Solar / Wind power generation only – we do not allow petrol or diesel generators on site, nor generation from a van.
Do not bring dogs, cats or other animals however well trained, small or cute. We will simply ask you to leave with them. Personal assistance dogs are permitted, as long as a request is given to the festival in advance and approved. Then it is permitted to walk around the site on a lead when working as long as they are identified as such and the owner takes responsibility for clearing up after them.
This area is prone to ticks which may carry bacteria that can cause serious health problems if not treated quickly. Bring a suitable repellent, check your body frequently, and avoid sitting directly on the ground.
Keep driving on site in the vehicle lanes and to the minimum, observe the 5mph speed limit, and avoid reversing.

Treat everyone’s property, space and time with respect

The ticket prices are the ticket prices are non-negotiable.
Entry for paying participants is from the advertised first day of the event at 10am. which is Wednesday. Those arriving earlier will be turned away.
If you have pre-purchased your ticket(s) you need to have the barcode sent to you by Ticketsellers. This is released on 3rd July 2024 and may take up to 24 hours to arrive. Please bring it with you on a device or as a printout. Check your e-mail and spam folder in good time before arriving if you think you haven’t received proof of purchase. We reserve the right to turn you away if we don’t have evidence of pre-purchase.
If you go off site make sure you have your wristband as we'll need to see it for your to regain entry.
We book our crew well in advance, so bringing someone along in the hope that they'll get a volunteer place when they arrive at the site will mean they have to pay for a ticket, or if we have sold out, get turned away.
Please stay within the bounds of the festival site at all times.
Only crew with an official wristband and / or event meal ticket are allowed into the crew dining area.
No child under the age of 16 is allowed in a communal kitchen of a catering operation (including the Crew Servery). No child under the age of 16 is allowed in the serving areas of the Crew Servery at any time unless accompanied by an adult.
Crew members’ children are only eligible for food if this has been agreed by their area co-ordinator and they have an allocated meal ticket.
Buddhafield is a friendly festival - it’s easy to get relaxed about your valuables. Please take care of your property. Buddhafield takes no responsibility for loss of property so please be cautious.

Avoid inappropriate sexual behaviour

Our events are loved-up experiences, so we especially request sensitivity towards people who are more open than usual.
There may be more nudity than you are accustomed to as many people enjoy the freedom at the event to be naked in a safe, mixed environment. If you, or your child(ren), may find this difficult you may wish to reconsider booking tickets. You can find out more about the conversation and policies around nudity at Buddhafield here.
Lewd or judgmental comments, repeated unwanted attention, or sexual advances to or from a person (naked or otherwise) are unacceptable and should be reported to Info point, Stewards or Safeguarding Team.
You may be comfortable being fully naked, but please offer consideration to those people that, given our culture, find nudity distracting, challenging or even threatening. If your state of nudity is regarded as sexually inappropriate, the Event Manager has the sole right to ask a person to cover themselves and if this request is not followed, the person will be asked to leave the site.
Remember that there is no sound insulation between your tent and the next one. It can be very uncomfortable listening to others in the throes of passion, so please be mindful and considerate.

Speech and noise

The event is neither a silent retreat nor an all-night party, so we ask you to consider our position on both extremes. We are committed to keeping all noise levels at safe and enjoyable levels, and routinely monitor levels around the site.
Be considerate of fellow campers in the camping areas between 11pm and 7am.
No unauthorized sound systems or amplifiers to be brought on site. All amplified music must be kept within our license restrictions (please ask the Head Steward if you are unsure of these) and anyone breaking these may be shut down.
There are late-night cafés and music venues that operate within our license. If you'd like to stay up all night and chat around a fire please do, but only around one of our public fire pits. We ask that you are aware that sound travels on the site and people are likely to be sleeping nearby.
Whilst we are asking participants to be considerate about making noise outside of certain time-frames, within those time-frames there will be amplified music that may not suit your tastes, either in style, volume or times of day.
We expect our amplified music venues to play music up to the higher noise limit of our Licence restrictions at any points during the event between:
- 9am-11pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday
- 9am-12pm, Saturday
If you feel that these times do not suit your preferences, you may wish to reconsider booking tickets or bring ear plugs.
We ask people to be considerate about drumming at all times, but especially after dusk. No drumming at all after the end of amplified music (see above) until at least 10am.

Recreational drugs and alcohol

A sober, recreational drug and alcohol-free environment is a significant part of what makes Buddhafield events what they are:

Recreational drugs and alcohol are not tolerated at our event and this is also a condition of our Licence. Failing to respect this will result in the person being asked to leave or detained by security teams and the police called.
We reserve the right to search persons, luggage or vehicles as a condition of entry at any point during the event.

And in general...

Ticket holders consent to inclusion in official photographic, visual and audio promotion of the event. We regret that, in most cases, it would be impossible to ask personal permission to reproduce your image.
We ask that all other photographs or filming is done with sensitivity and respect of the people involved and, where reasonable, with their permission. Participants in the event are expected to take photographs / videos and it is not reasonable for the Event Management Team to police such activity.
Any concerns raised about the actions of a person taking photographs or filming during the event should be reported to the Head Steward or Safeguarding Team.
Any unmanned aircraft/drone, or radio controls of any size or type, are not allowed into the venue. If such a device, or controls for such a device, are found, the organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or confiscate the item.
We offer an 80% refund of your ticket(s) if you ask for a refund up until two weeks before the event - please send your booking details to info@theticketsellers.co.uk. Refunds are not guaranteed and will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Special circumstances will be considered - please contact us with your request. If you want to protect your ticket on booking in order to get a full refund (minus admin fees), you have the option to select ticket insurance on booking.
The Ticket Office on-site cannot give refunds for any reason.
We cannot refund for any reason after 30th September in the year of the event.
In the event of cancellation any refunds will be at the discretion of the organisers.
The Ticket/Pass/Wristband remains the property of Buddhafield Events at all times.
The organisers reserve the right to alter, curtail or cancel the event.
The organisers will not be held liable for any loss, injury or damage to persons or property sustained while attending the event except in respect of death, injury and damage to property resulting from the organisers' negligence. In the case of damage to the ticket holder’s property caused by the organisers' negligence, the organisers' liability shall be limited to the reasonable cost of either repairing or replacing such property subject to fair wear and tear.

These Terms & Conditions are subject to change without notice and may be updated at any time. It is the responsibility of all those attending the event to ensure they have the most up-to-date version of the Terms & Conditions.

Note that the above is not intended to be exhaustive and the Event Manager will make decisions about appropriate action on a case-by-case basis. Their decision is final.
