Join us at Green Earth Awakening - Stewards

We have offered all 16 stewarding positions and are running a waitlist for people still interested if an opportunity becomes available. You can apply now to be on the waitlist. We will let you know either way whether you have been successful or not.

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in applying to be part of the Green Earth Awakening Gate & Steward Crew.

You can apply now. We will start processing applications during July so please wait until July 31st before contacting us about the status of your application. We will let you know either way whether you have been successful or not.

Here you can find out:

  • what the Steward & Gate Crew does
  • what you need to be able to commit to
  • additional roles
  • how to volunteer
  • what stewarding at GEA involves

Stewards help to look after everyone at the gathering. Being part of the steward crew can be a lot of fun, with many people returning to do it again year after year.

Key roles include:

  • welcoming and processing new arrivals at the gate
  • helping direct on-site traffic, including showing them where to park
  • helping people to find their way safely around the site
  • using walkie-talkies to communicate with other stewards

You don't need special skills and will receive training in your particular role.

If you wish to steward with us, you need to be:

  • Eighteen or over
  • Openhearted with an enthusiastic approach
  • Friendly and interested in helping people
  • Able to be assertive when required
  • You will also need to have the right to work in the UK

Most people find stewarding with us a very enjoyable experience. However, in offering to help in this way, you will be taking on a job that may be quite busy and demanding at times, so please consider this before applying.

Key Dates and Shifts

We recruit stewards on a rolling schedule across the event, so your specific dates will depend on which crew you join. All stewards work approximately 20–25 hours across their time on site. Set-up shift times can vary. Event shifts typically run 10-3 and 3-8, though this might change.

Whichever steward crew you join you must arrive by 3pm the day before your first shift begins for sign-in, induction, and to settle in.

We have a small but mighty team, and reliable attendance really matters. Please only apply if you're confident you can commit to your full agreed dates - last-minute dropouts put significant pressure on the whole crew.

Which steward role would you like to apply for?

We have three roles. Please read the details carefully before applying, as your dates are a firm commitment.

Early stewards (2 places)

  • 4 shifts of around 5 hours each (~20 hrs total)
  • You must arrive by 3pm on Monday 7th September

Event stewards (8 places)

  • First shift: Wednesday 9th September. Complete your shifts by Sunday 13th September.

  • 4 shifts of around 5 hours each (~20 hrs total), including one day off
  • You must arrive by 3pm on Tuesday 8th September
  • You must be available to work a Sunday shift if requested, meaning you may be required to stay on site until Sunday evening

Supervising

There may be an opportunity for you to take on a supervisory role, supporting the stewarding coordinator with steward welfare and field management. For that, we ask that you have either been to Buddhafield or Green Earth Awakening before (in any capacity) or be familiar with stewarding or supervising at other festivals or events.

Please indicate on the application form if you are interested in a supervisory role.

Overall event dates for reference:

Event opens: Wednesday 9th September

Event closes: Sunday 13th September

In return, you will receive:

  • Training and support in your role
  • A ticket to the gathering
  • Whatever vehicle pass you need
  • Dharma input every day
  • Vegan food (all meals and hot drinks every day you are on site)

Please apply below.

Thank you 🙏🏻
